Hiring Full-Time Senior Pastor

We are currently seeking a Senior Pastor who has a strong sense of calling to build and nurture believers to become Christ’s disciples, leading the church to follow and carry-out God’s great commission and to further His kingdom for His glory. The candidate must have an assurance of his calling from God and is willing to take up the role and responsibility as a Senior Pastor/Cantonese Pastor.


Our Background:

Richmond Pacific Grace MB Church is an Anabaptist, Evangelical Christian church affiliated with the Mennonite Brethren Conference. Our church was planted in 2005 in the City of Richmond and will soon be moving to our new church building. We are a missional church consisting of two congregations; Cantonese and English (which also includes Children’s Ministry).


Role and Responsibilities:

  • • Provide strong leadership, coaching, and support to the Pastoral and administrative staff team, Deacons Board, and other church leaders;
  • • Develop and lead the vision, mission and strategic plans of the church, and effectively communicate and inspire these to the congregations;
  • • Oversee the creation, coordination, and execution of short-term and long-term plans to steer ministries towards achieving the vision and goals;
  • • Oversee both the Cantonese and English ministries such as making disciples, equipping leaders and reaching out to the community around us through missions, evangelism, and caring ministry;
  • • Oversee and lead the preaching and teaching ministries of the church, including theologically sound and effective fundamentals and principles to promote healthy spiritual growth amongst the congregations;
  • • Oversee and provide pastoral care for the sick, elderly, or hurting – including visitations, prayer support and counselling;
  • • Conduct weddings, funerals, and baptisms, as well as provide premarital/marital counselling;
  • • Help to create and build a strong spiritual community within the church across the two congregations and network effectively with other church leaders as well as MB convention leaders


Educational background and Qualifications: 

The prospective candidate will possess: 

  • • Around 5 years of pastoral ministry, preferably with experience in a multi-cultural and multi-congregational setting
  • • A MDiv (Master of Divinity) degree or its equivalent from accredited and recognized theological seminaries
  • • Ordination within an evangelical denomination
  • • Accreditation and ascription to the doctrine, belief and practices of the Mennonite Brethren denomination
  • • Ability to oversee the two congregations (Cantonese and English) with proficiency in at least one of the two languages and some understanding of the unique cultures of each congregation
  • • Pastoral experience in North America is an asset
